Hey, I'm Will, founder of Conquer Your Crux
Whether you’re a beginning rock climber or a weekend warrior veteran, Conquer Your Crux is for you. My mission is to help show climbing enthusiasts like yourself that if you want to crush it on the walls, you have to put in the work.
On this site, you’ll find a recap of every indoor climbing session I complete in my Journey to V7 series. Check out my first post here.
Aside from my climbing log, you’ll find my reflections on how I approach getting better at climbing, tips you can apply to your bouldering, gear reviews, and features of climbers I find interesting.
My climbing journey
In late 2015, a buddy and I stumbled into Brooklyn Boulders Chicago. Both of us were terrified of the heights and stuck solely to the auto-belays, but one thing was certain: we were hooked.
I started formally climbing in February 2016 when I became a member of First Ascent and haven’t looked back since. In my third year of climbing, I decided to become more intentional about how I become a better climber, so I started this site in 2018.
My #1 goal for 2018 was simple: send a V7. And I did so after many hard sessions in the gym on October 6th, 2018.
Much of 2019 has been centered on building on this momentum. My goal for 2019 was to send five V7s. I broke past that goal a few months into 2019, and ended up sending over fifty V7s.
For 2020, my goal is solidify my ability to send V7s, make my way through some Moonboard benchmarks, and maybe send my first V9.
